Earth week

The Climate Action Club brought Earth Week back to MC in Spring 2021. We are in charge of planning MC Earth Week celebrations to spread environmental awareness at Montgomery College. MC Earth Week has student presentations, activities, and events to encourage MC students and faculty members to think more critically about the environment.
Lecture series
The Climate Action Now Club holds a lecture series for students and faculty members to learn about different environmental topics from experts in the field during the spring semester. This spring, we will have guest speakers from NOAA, DOE, and EPA.
book drive
The Climate Action Now Club has started an annual book drive during the spring semester. We are partnered with Turning The Page in D.C to collect books to reduce deforestation and increase access to educational resources. We collected a total of 1870 books in 2021 and have a goal of 5000.

denim drive
The Climate Action Now Club has started an annual denim drive that takes place during the Fall semester. We partner with BlueJeansGoGreen to collect denim that will be converted into recycled cotton UltraTouch™ housing insulation. We held a virtual denim drive in 2020 where participants mailed their own denim to the company. It takes on average 500 pieces of denim to insulate one average-sized U.S house. We collected 820 pieces of denim. In 2021, we collected 3,003 pieces of denim in person.
